Keep Your Momentum This New Fall Season


The end of September feels like turning a page. Summer’s long days are behind us, the air has a little more chill, and routines are shifting into fall mode. This is the season of pumpkin-filled everything to excite us, but we can often unknowingly lose our momentum just as easily. Think how healthy habits give way to comfort foods, busier schedules, and the slow drift toward holiday indulgence quickly causing us to take multiple steps backwards. 

BUT…it doesn’t have to be that way. Fall can actually become your advantage. Cooler weather makes outdoor walks more enjoyable, fall produce offers novel and nutritious options, and the natural rhythm of the season can provide structure. The difference comes down to whether you let the season happen to you OR…you step into it with intention.

Here are a few simple, but powerful ways to carry your momentum forward this fall:

  • Rework your fall schedule, don’t abandon it. If evenings are filling up faster, move workouts to mornings or lunch breaks. Adjusting is better than skipping.
  • Make fall produce your ally. Apples, squash, and root vegetables are nutrient-packed and satisfying, which are perfect for meals that feel seasonal without derailing progress.
  • Watch for “fall comfort creep.” Cooler weather makes extra snacks, sweets, and heavy meals tempting. Instead, find healthier comfort swaps that keep you satisfied and aligned with your plan.
  • Keep your bigger picture in mind. The habits you strengthen now will carry you through the holiday season, so you finish the year with pride instead of regret.

Think of fall as a checkpoint. You can let it pull you off track, or you can use it to reinforce your progress. Imagine stepping into the holidays confident and consistent, knowing you’ve built momentum when it mattered most.

So here’s the challenge: choose one small shift this week that will keep you moving forward. Maybe it’s tightening up your meal prep, recommitting to workouts, or setting a short-term goal. Progress doesn’t come from perfection—it comes from showing up, season after season.
